Morning, August 23

And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.

Isaiah 65:19, kjv
The glorified weep no more, for all outward causes of grief are gone. There are no broken friendships, nor blighted prospects in heaven. Poverty, famine, peril, persecution, and slander, are unknown there. No pain distresses, no thought of death or bereavement saddens. They weep no more, for they are perfectly sanctified. No "evil heart of unbelief" prompts them to depart from the living God; they are without fault before his throne, and are fully conformed to his image. Well may they cease to mourn who have ceased to sin. They weep no more, because all fear of change is past. They know that they are eternally secure. Sin is shut out, and they are shut in. They dwell within a city which shall never be stormed; they bask in a sun which shall never set; they drink of a river which shall never dry; they pluck fruit from a tree which shall never wither. Countless cycles may revolve, but eternity shall not be exhausted, and while eternity endures, their immortality and blessedness shall co-exist with it. They are forever with the Lord. They weep no more, because every desire is fulfilled. They cannot wish for anything which they have not in possession. Eye and ear, heart and hand, judgment, imagination, hope, desire, will, all the faculties, are completely satisfied; and imperfect as our present ideas are of the things which God hath prepared for them that love him, yet we know enough, by the revelation of the Spirit, that the saints above are supremely blessed. The joy of Christ, which is an infinite fulness of delight, is in them. They bathe themselves in the bottomless, shoreless sea of infinite beatitude. That same joyful rest remains for us. It may not be far distant. Ere long the weeping willow shall be exchanged for the palm-branch of victory, and sorrow's dewdrops will be transformed into the pearls of everlasting bliss. "Wherefore comfort one another with these words."

Charles Haddon (C.H.) Spurgeon (June 19, 1834 – January 31, 1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers". He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church in his day.

In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times each week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later had to leave that denomination. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him posthumously.

Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, poetry, hymnist, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime.

What is a devotion?

A devotional is short one-page writing about a topic related to the Christian faith and life. They usually have a Bible verse or two on which they are based and are not, due to their brevity on 'heavy' theological topics but provide words of encouragement or challenging and inspiring thoughts. Many devotional writings also contain illustrations from everyday life and then relate that to Christian living.

Showing Devotions for Today

When you click on the "Today" button within an authors library, the authors devotion designated for today will be displayed.

This will ONLY work if the author has included the Month and Day somewhere within the devotional title.

Enabling your Devotion for the "Today" function
In order to use the "Today" button to have a devotion for today displayed, you simply need to add the Month and Day somewhere in your title. The" Month Day" may be placed anywhere within your title, as long as you maintain the correct format:

Correct Formats: "May 27" or "November 6" or "April 23"
Wrong Formats: "May, 27" or "11/2" or "Nov 6"

Adding the Month Day to your title will enable it to be displayed when someone clicks the "Today" button.

What happens when I choose to follow an Author?

Following an Author allows you to stay up today with the authors latest devotions. When that author adds a new devotion you will receive a PM and an optional email alert. You can view and edit your followed authors on the My Followed Authors page.

How does recommending a devotional work?

You can only recommend a devotional ONCE per day and you cannot recommend your own devotional.

The author gets sent a PM letting them know that someone found his/her devotional inspirational, encouraging or helpful. This information is also used to help us better organize our devotions.

Adding devotions should NOT become a contest, but a way to give the Glory back to the Lord in showing how he has worked in your life.

I keep getting the message "Sorry, you cannot recommend your own devotional"?

To be fair, you cannot recommend your own devotional. If you are seeing this message and it is not your devotional, it could be that the author's IP and your IP addresses are the same, which could be from sharing same internet connection (same house). This can be fixed by logging into your account.

An IP (Internet Protocol) is your address on the web, kind of like your phone number for your current connection.

Wait, What?
To be able to allow people to recommend devotionals without being logged in, your IP address is compared to the devotional IP from its creation. This allows people to Recommend your devotional without having to sign in, but this also means users on the same IP cannot recommend each other's stories, UNLESS you are logged in to to a seperate account.

What happens when I delete one of my devotions?

Your devotional will remain in the system until a devotional purge. When a devotional purge happens, all member devotions marked for deletion from the system will be permanently removed.

Until that happens, this deleted devotional will still remain in your library, marked as "deleted" and will only be visible to you.

You can un-delete this devotional by clicking on the button "Un-Delete This Page", located at the bottom of the banned or removed heading box.
